Metal Fabrication Machinery

Introduction to Metal Fabrication Machinery

Metal fabrication has been a very important part of industry in general and metal fabrication machinery has been the essential part of the process of metal fabrication for a long time now. Metal fabrication machinery and metal fabrication tools have both in their own way influenced the development of metal industry over a period of many years. This means that the metal industry has been changing alongside the development of metal fabrication machinery and metal fabrication tools because the two are linked together.

Metal Fabrication Machinery

Namely, a great number of different stages in the process of metal fabrication have appeared over the years, and all of these new stages required new types of metal fabrication machinery in order to be done properly. As a result of this, we today have a mind-boggling number of various different metal fabrication machineries and metal fabrication tools available on the market, and all of these different types of machinery and tools are used for many different tasks which have to be done in order for the raw material to become a finished product.

Types of Metal Fabrication Machinery

As it has already been said, many different types of metal fabrication machinery find their way into the modern metal industry. The reason why so many different types of these machines exist is the fact that there are many different tasks to be done, and the fact that there are many different kinds of metals to be shaped and formed into a finished product. Here are some examples of different types of metal fabrication machinery used all around the world:

  • Angle bending machinery – this type of metal fabrication machinery is used for bending many different kinds of metals into shapes such as angles, channels and beams. These machines are very useful, very powerful and they can be either small-scale or they can be very large, depending on the material they are designed to process.
  • Press brakes – this is one of the most common types of metal fabrication machinery used in any metal industry. These press brakes use sheer force to bend metal plates and sheets into required shapes. Although not as versatile as angle bending machines, they are considered to be very useful by all metal workers.
  • Rebar cutters – these machines, as the name suggests, are used for cutting rebar. Rebar is a type of carbon steel and rebar bars are used to reinforce concrete. As rebar bars are very difficult to cut through, rebar cutters are the only machines that can do this task.
  • Ironworkers – these versatile and very practical machines are used for creating holes and punches in steel plates. They can be adjusted to create holes of many different sizes and types, and they are classified by the amount of force they use to punch holes.

Regardless of the type of metal fabrication machinery, it is always important that all safety measures and regulations are followed and that the metal workers using the machinery in question are experienced and fully trained.
